The journey for the gold in the 2012 London Olympic Games is close. Today the final 12 spots of the U.S Men's National Basketball team has been set. Team USA head coach Mike Krzyzewsk, and his assitant coaching staff which includes Mike D'Antoni, Nate McMillan, and Jim Boeheim are confident in the team they assembled. Here are the men that will represent the U.S. in the 2012 London Olympics:

 

Guards: Deron Williams (Age: 28, Brooklyn Nets), Chris Paul (Age: 27, Los Angeles Clippers),  Russell Westbrook (Age: 23, Oklahoma City Thunder), Kobe Bryant (Age: 33, Los Angeles Lakers), James Harden (Age: 22, Oklahoma City Thunder)

 

Forwards: Lebron James (Age: 27, Miami Heat), Kevin Durant (Age: 23, Oklahoma City Thunder), Carmelo Anthony (Age: 28, New York Knicks), Blake Griffin (Age: 23, Los Angeles Clippers), Andre Iguodala (Age: 28, Philadelphia 76ers), Kevin Love (Age: 23, Minnesota Timberwolves)

 

Centers: Tyson Chandler (Age: 29, New York Knicks)

 

Alternates (Cut, Will Play If Injury Occurs): Rudy Gay (Age: 25, Memphis Grizzlies), Anthony Davis (Age: 19, New Orleans Hornets), Eric Gordon (Age: 23, New Orleans Hornets RFA)

 

Team USA has 5 members from the 2008 Gold Medal team returning. This team is excited to get going, and Coach K has stated the leadership from the trio of Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, and Kevin Durant is already being shown. The comfort level is sky high between all the players, which is great for team chemistry.

 

The first on-court action for Team USA will be Thursday July 12th, at 9:00 pm. This will be an exhibition match, the opponent will be the Dominican Republic.
