Rangers celebrating after a win.

After another grueling 7 game series, the Rangers come out on top again, and will be playing the Devils in the Eastern Conference Finals.

As I previously predicted in an earlier article, the final score of the game was 2-1, in favor of the Blueshirts. Needless to say, I am not happy about this, but I applaud the Rangers for their perseverance and ability to close out big games.

Brad Richards opened the scoring early, and they took a 1-0 lead. We didn't see any more scoring until the 3rd, where Michael del Zotto potted another goal, putting them ahead 2-0.  Roman Hamrlik scored a nice wrister to bring the Caps within 1, but in the end it wasn't enough. Henrik Lundqvist made 22 saves and had a .957 save percentage, and Braden Holtby stopped 29 to have a .935 save percentage.  Both teams were fairly matched, but as I had predicted, established talent beat out a hot goaltender.

I thought the game was very well played. Both teams played well, and neither team deserved to lose the game. We were once again shown that Henrik Lundqvist is a brick wall and nearly impossible to beat. One instance that really impressed me was at around the 8 minute mark in the second where the Caps had a lot of pressure on Henrik, and yet he persevered and made many beautiful saves. Once I saw this, I was sold that there was no way the Rangers would lose this game.

Now, the Rangers will face the most playoff tenured team left in the playoffs in the New Jersey Devils. It will be a very tough series because both teams have elite goaltending and they are arch rivals. The Devils also have the most regular season goals out of all the teams left in the playoffs, which will play to their advantage.  Personally, I'm rooting for the Devils to win the series, but it seems as if the Rangers are cup bound at this point. I don't know if I can make a reasonable pick just yet, but if I were forced to, I would pick Rangers in 7, just because the Rangers have youth and seem to come through whenever they're called upon.

What are your predictions? Reactions? Happy? Sad? Let me know. I want to hear how you think the Rangers will handle Parise and the Devils!
