Lubomir Visnovsky has come a long way for the Islanders this year. Initially, he wanted nothing to do with the Isles, but he has now signed a two year extension, worth $9.5 million and a no movement clause. This will keep the Czechoslovakian defender with the Isles through the 2014-15 season.

Lubomir has been a huge part of the Islanders success this season. He has 9 points in 22 games with the club, and has provided much needed veteran leadership to other players such as Thomas Hickey. He's also been important on the power play, playing the point with captain Mark Streit.

General Manager Garth Snow has come out and stated that after agreeing to the extension with Lubo, he is confident that Mark Streit will also be resigned, although not much has been said about two other unrestricted free agents Brad Boyes and Evgeni Nabokov. Despite that, the feeling within the Islanders front office and fan base is that Nabokov will be extended.
