Kings March On to Take a Three Game Lead
The Kings have taken a 3-0 series lead, steamrolling the Devils by a score of 4-0.
The first period was actually a pretty well played period from both teams, and there was no scoring from either end. The first goal was scored 5 minutes into the second period by Alec Martinez. Originally it was given to Dwight King, but it was changed to Martinez, and this was his first career playoff goal. Ten minutes later, Anze Kopitar netted his 8th goal of the playoffs to make it 2-0. The wheels would come off around this time, and the Kings would score twice more in the third, by Jeff Carter and Justin Williams, both on the powerplay, and the scoring would be capped. The Kings now have a 3-0 lead in the series.
This was a disgusting effort from the Devils. They were 0-6 on the powerplay, and they failed to really garner any momentum. Marty Brodeur had a pathetic .810 save percentage. The Devils needed to show composure and really had to come up on top, but they did the complete opposite. They took stupid penalties, and the two of them turned into powerplay goals. They became extremely frustrated, which is fair seeing as Jonathan Quick is clearly from another planet. They needed to bounce back, and they failed to do so. It's hard to say that the Devils have a chance to win the next game, but it's also hard to imagine that the Devils will get swept.
