Hornets Win the 2012 NBA Lottery
The NBA Lottery took place Wednesday night, to determine which teams would be picking in the top 3 draft slots, in the upcoming NBA Draft. The New Orleans Hornets were the big winners, being drawn to pick number one overall. They are expected to use the pick on University of Kentucky big man, Anthony Davis. The Charlotte Bobcats will be picking 2nd, and the Washington Wizards are the owners of the 3rd pick in the draft.
The NBA Lottery was put into place in 1985 to keep teams from purposely tanking games. The 14 teams that miss the playoffs are all entered into this drawing. The teams with the worse record, receive more ping pong balls, and more chances to win. The drawing takes place in a locked room and then the results are shared live on T.V.
The NBA Draft will take place on Thursday, June 28th, 2012.
